Immanuel is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The ELCA has almost 10,000 member congregations in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. Through this partnership we work in mission with Christians in Lutheran Churches and other Christian confessions all around the world. 

The ELCA is organized into 65 “synods.” The word synod comes from a Greek word meaning "to travel a common road -- to walk together." Ours is the Sierra Pacific Synod, a community of nearly 200 congregations in central and northern California and northern Nevada. 

Through our relationship with the ELCA and the Sierra Pacific Synod we support numerous efforts to make a difference in our world by alleviating poverty, working for peace, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
