This week, our stewardship emphasis is “The Joy of Doing God’s Work Together.” Our denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, regularly uses the phrase “God’s work. Our hands.” At Immanuel Lutheran Church, we strive to live out those words. When our hands do God’s work together, more becomes possible, and we are strengthened and sustained by one another.

One of the joys of being part of a congregation is knowing that none of us does this work alone. Each of us brings something different. Some give their time, some share their talents, some provide financial support, and others teach, serve, welcome, pray, lead, or care for people in need. When God brings all these gifts together, they become part of something much larger.

We see this throughout Immanuel—in worship and fellowship, in our children and youth ministries, in caring for one another, and in serving our neighbors both near and far. This is stewardship: recognizing what God has given us and using those gifts to bless others.

Think about your own involvement. How have you joined with others at Immanuel to do God’s work? How has your generosity—your time, talents, or financial gifts—helped make ministry possible?

We don't have to do everything. We simply bring what we can, and together, God does far more through us than any of us could do alone.
